How to use System Info
System Info is split into four main areas, system information, battery display, memory display and database display. Use the menu to switch between them when you area in any of the main forms.

System
The system display displays the following information about your Palm

Parameter Meaning
Processor The type of processor in you Palm.
PalmOS version The version of the PalmOS installed.
ROM ID The ID stored in your ROM.*
HotSync name The HotSync name you gave your Palm.
Display resolution The resolution of the display screen.
Display colour Does the display support colour.
Display bit depths The display bit depths supported.

* not available on all models (eg not on m100)

Battery
This displays a graphical representation of the power remaining in the batteries, along with the following data.

Parameter Meaning
Voltage The current voltage of the batteries.
Power The power remaining.*
Type The type of batteries. **
Warning The voltage at which the low power warning is given.
Critical The voltage at which the Palm will automatically switch off.

* The power remaining is calculated by the operating system, it may not be very accurate.

** If your palm does not have a built in Lithium ion battery, you can change the type of the batteries between Alkaline, NiCad, Alkaline (rechargeable) & NiMH. This will effect the Power and Warning values.

Memory
The memory form displays the following data.

Parameter Meaning
Memory card The memory card number (usually 1, but selectable if more than 1 memory card is present).
Card name The name of the memory card.
Manufacture The name of the memory card’s manufacture.
Version The version of the memory card.
Created The time/date the memory card was created.
ROM size The amount of ROM on the memory card.
RAM size The total amount of RAM on the memory card.
Free memory The amount of unused RAM on the memory card.

Databases
The Database form contains a scrollable list of all the databases on the Palm, together with up to three icons.
The icons allow you to display information on the selected database (always available), see below. Beam the selected database (not available if the database’s copy protection flag is set). And delete the selected database (only available if the database is in RAM), please note deleting a database may stop an application from working correctly and may even require a hard reset on your PDA for it to working again!
The database information form displays the following information about the selected database.

Parameter Meaning
Name The name of the database.
Size The size of the database in bytes.
Creator The four character creator id of the database.
Type The four character type of the database (appl for an application etc).
Location Location of the database (RAM/ROM).
Created The time/date the database was created.
Modified The time/date the database was last modified.
Backed up The time/date the database was last backed up.
Modified A flag to indicate that the database has been modified since it was last backed up.
Backup A flag to indicate that the database is backed up during a HotSync.
Can copy A flag to indicate that the database can be beamed.
Hidden A flag to indicate if an application is hidden from the launcher.

Tapping on the close button will return you to the database list form.

 

Requirements

System Info requires PalmOS 3.0 or higher and about 14K of free memory.
