Description Price $20.00 Spell+ Hack integrates with other PalmOS applications to add spell checking functionality to standard data entry fields. It will work with the PalmOS built in applications like Memo Pad and also with a range of third part applications. To use the spell checker select the word you wish to check and tap on the Spell+ Hack activation spot, and the spell checker will popup ready for use. Spell+ Hack comes with two word lists, one containing over 74,000 English spellings and one containing over 84,000 US English spellings. The word list database can be stored in main memory or on a VFS compatible memory card. (Note: not all applications use standard data entry fields, in which case Spell+ Hack will not be able to get a selected word or update it in these cases).
Requirements Spell+ Hack requires a device with PalmOS 3.0 or higher and either 685K or 790K of free memory (depending on the word list used). You will also need a Hack management program like HackMaster (available from www.daggerware.com or www.palmgear.com).
Configuration You configure/enable Spell+ Hack inside the HackMaster application. To enable the program check it's check box. By default Spell+ Hack will then be activated at any time by tapping on the top left hand corner of your Palm's screen. The activation spot can be configured by selecting the "+" icon in HackMaster. This will display the configuration form. While this form is displayed, tap on the screen position you wish to use to active Spell+ Hack, the co-ordinates of the position will be shown. As well as the main display area you can also use the Graffiti area. I would suggest that you use one of the four corners of the screen as your activation point.
Using Spell+ Hack Once configured and enabled Spell+ Hack can be used to check the spelling in any standard input field or it can be used as a standalone spell checker. To check the spelling of a word in an input field, first select the word (by tapping and dragging), then activate Spell+ Hack by tapping on it's activation spot. The selected word will be read into the spell checker and displayed. To check the spelling tap on Lookup. If the spelling is recognised a message saying so will be displayed. If not then a list of possible spellings will be displayed. To update the word in the original application select the correct word from the list or correct the word's spelling and tap on Update. To return to the previous application without updating tap on Quit. Or to add the word to the Spell+ custom dictionary tap on Add. To use Spell+ Hack as a standalone spell checker simply tap on it's activation spot at any time, and enter the spelling you wish to check. Then tap on Lookup.
