Newark based Rural Rides in 2001

Following on from last year's successful rides starting in the town, Newark CTC section members aim to provide another interesting programme for 2001.

We look forward to seeing some new faces along with friends from previous year's rides.

The Metheringham Flyer
A 25 mile ride along country lanes led at a steady pace, this one is suitable for adults and older children on most types of cycle. Packed or pub lunch as required. The highlight of the ride will be a visit to the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre.

Peripatetic Pub Pootle
Now that the evenings are light and balmy, why not leave the gardening and try something different? Riding bikes, Real Ale and relaxing chat are the order of the day - what could be simpler? The ride is all 'on road' and will be led at a gentle pace. All are welcome, but please consider the duration, distance and the rules for children in pubs.

This ride will visit the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre at Ruddington. The trains will be 'in steam' and there will be a Classic Car rally as well as vintage cycles. Why not join this long but easy paced ride on mainly quiet roads. There may be an admission charge at the Heritage Centre.

An early start for a seriously long ride to the Brandy Wharf Cider Centre in Lincolnshire. Roads will be mostly flat but the route has to climb 'Lincoln Cliff' at some point! Take time to enjoy your destination but remember that you need to cycle back in a safe and sober manner.
