My MA: Creative Technology
personal index

I picked up a lot of skills in digital technique, particularly in the fields of web design and video editing. My research interests were:

  • Cultural, sociological and psychological understanding of cyberspace
  • Creative design
  • Philosophy and psychology of simulation
  • Psychological interaction in cyberspace
  • Cyberspace as 'sacred space'
  • Narrative in cyberspace
  • The photographic aesthetic as precursor to multimedia
  • Notion of 'space' as applied to cyberspace
  • Cultural geography applied to understanding of cyberspace
  • Theatrical metaphor
  • Psychology and aesthetics
  • Psychology of the gaze

The four most important dissertations I produced were:

City Stories: A web based project based on the primacy of narrative

Cyberspace Psychology and Virtual Community

Cyberspace: Space, Technology and Metaphor

Video Gazing

....I'll be developing these and publishing some of the content here; Video Gazing is below.

Below are some stills from my final project: a seven minute video called Video Gazing. It was underpinned by an investigation of surveillance and technology, and the psychology of the gaze. I got the footage from different parts of London.

My final report is here - it's a large file, because it was nearly 10,000 words and includes images.
