Columns

TuCows 5-cow award winner Columns is a shareware version of the popular game Columns that I have written for the Psion Series 5 (and Geofox One). It has recently been awarded the 5-cow rating (the highest available) by TuCows.

Having written Klax5, I decided to put the logic of it to good use, and have written an EPOC-32 version of the Sega Game Gear / Master System classic "Columns". Having only played the original game for 10 minutes at most, you'll have to forgive me for any differences from the original.

The main problem with it, as with Klax5, is that as it's written in OPL, there weren't really enough CPU cycles left to write a decent timer routine, so it'll only run at the correct speed on the original ER3 machines (the Psion Series 5, Geofox One, etc). If you think this problem should be corrected, please register it so I can get on with writing & rewriting all of my software in C++ so it runs at a more decent speed. That said, it runs fine on the S5, and makes a nice change from Tetris (and Klax5).

As far as I'm aware it features all of the important features of other versions, such as:

  • 10 levels of fast paced action
  • Full digital sound
  • Animation
  • Advanced scoring
  • High scores
  • Multiple difficulty levels & other settings

As it is shareware, please register it if you find it fun. It's only £10.00 sterling, and any money made from it will go straight back into my writing other software.

Registration

Currently the only way to register a piece of software (other than Dark Horizon) is to send a cheque made payable to me (JS Greenwood) for the sum relevant to the program being registered. These prices are shown next to each shareware program, and are also available in the help files included with the application. My address for sending the cheques to is also included with each application. Once I have received payment I will e-mail you your individual registration code for the application requested. Please make sure that you include your name as you would like it to appear in the registration information dialogue boxes.

Foreign currencies may be accepted, with a slight surcharge added on (in line with the surcharge I get from the bank for converting cheques). Please e-mail me if it is impossible for you to send me currency in Sterling.
