Steel Magnolias
By Robert Harding
A celebration of friendship, Steel Magnolias is set in Truvy's beauty
salon, where "anyone who is anybody" gets their hair done. Truvy, her
assistant, and four of their regular customers range from ages 19 to 60,
as well as from "new kid on the block" to the wife of the former mayor.
Amid shampoos and free advice, these women face the excitement of weddings
and trials of marriage, the joy of giving birth and the fear of life-threatening
illness. Their story of strength and love - weaving lives together into
a fabric that is stronger than any one life alone - is humorous, tender,
and inspiring.
A treat for all ages, Steel Magnolias is a tribute to friendship that
goes the distance.
