Corrine Rae Hill

Corrine made her debut on Saturday 24th June 1989 at 04.50am weighing 7lb 6oz, making her presence known to all in the delivery suite. She was everything I had hoped for, a healthy little girl with blonde hair, she was a dream.

When we reached the ward I lay there with Corrine at my side, I couldn't take my eyes off her, I just couldn't believe she was mine, I couldn't sleep the Nurse was telling me to get some rest but I was so overwhelmed by it all, there was this little bundle totally dependant on me.

Corrine was a a happy baby always smiling, gurgling, laughing and very bright and alert. At eleven months she was walking, at eighteen months she knew how to work the video recorder better than i did, she would sit there all day watching disney films, when the film finished she would get up, rewind the film and put on another film. She was also a whiz at jigsaw puzzles, my friends and family were amazed at how quick she mastered them, and a real bright spark she was.

Corrine was so independent, she wouldn't let me dress her, or wash her hair, that trait was to remain with her. She was always so grown up, she was like seven going on seventeen, outgoing but shy was Corrine.

Corrine started nursery a little over the age of three, she loved nursery and enjoyed all the activities they did, drawing, painting, she also got her first taste of the computer, which became her main hobby, and of course the internet, she loved the teenage chat rooms, with the rules not to give out anything, most of the time I was looking over her shoulder.

Corrine was a very bright girl and loved school, joining in everything she could, she loved to sing and dance, she was in the school choir, she was also very sporty she was in the net ball, basketball and even the football team. I can remember when she came home all excited because she came first in the sack race, on her birthday as well, my heart just swelled with pride, her face beaming from ear to ear was a picture to see.

Corrine received good school reports all the way through her school years, I was so proud of her, in year six she went to Anglesey which she really enjoyed, Oh the house was so quiet without her, Jodee and I couldn't wait for her to come home. While she was away i was putting the finishing touches to her bedroom, a new double bed, a canopy above her bed with lilac drapes, her favourite colour. It looked like a room fit for a Princess. When she arrived home in the afternoon and saw her bedroom she rushed up to me and gave me the biggest cuddle, saying 'I love you Mum, thank you'. Corrine was always telling people she loved them, she was such a loving girl nothing was ever too much trouble for her.
