The burial Authority needs to create a structured policy relating to both the present memorial management but also the future policy of memorial management.

Below are a number of points that need to be considered but by no means is comprehensive, each Authority needs to tailor there policy to there local needs.

Use of "Monolith" style memorials

Stone Mason guarantee
Copy of ALL insurances of stone masons
Insurance for memorial linked to length of "right to erect memorial"
Insurance to be arranged so Burial Authority is a beneficiary of the insurance
Immediate action when memorials are found to be unsafe
Regular inspection/report (5 year interval)
Suitable foundations
Staff knowledge increased regarding memorial safety
Registration scheme for stone masons
