Xander Harris, good friends with Willow, first saw Buffy when she transferred to Sunnydale High School. Immediately having a crush on her which turned into loving her.
He found out she was the Slayer and since then has always been fighting the fight or being knocked out at Buffy's side. He was always there to help and is very loyal to the mission.
He was always chasing the wrong women like an Inca mummy and a she-mantis. He was a quickie for a bloodthirsty Slayer Faith. Buffy was never interested. By kissing Willow he cheated on the one proper relationship he had in high school with Cordelia.
He often said mean or unkind things to those he loved because of many things, often because of jealousy of Angel's relationship with Buffy.
Now he is involved with Anya
He didnt go to UC Sunnydale but took jobs from bartending to construction.
He and Anya become a serious couple and they are even engaged.
Buffy's death has seriously affected him and when they bring her back and find out she was in heaven he feels even worse.
The marriage ceremony fails when a creepy old man shows him his future and Xander bails.
He tries to apologise to Anya and still wants to date but is a bit shocked to find she has retrieved her vengeance powers.
At the end of Series 6 we find Xander being the hero and saving the world from Willow. He is the one who stops her and helps stop her complete loss of control with the magics. He stops her by telling her how much he loves her.
Through this action he restores our faith in his kindness.
In Season 7 he is still fighting with the Scoobies and is often repairing smashed windows. He and Anya consider their relationship.
