When Spike was mortal he was nicknamed 'William the Bloody' because of his bloody awful poetry. He was sired in 1880 by Drusilla who called him Spike because of his love of torturing victims with railroad spikes. Spike, in his time, has killed two slayers. Spike's lover Drusilla left him for a chaos demon and later on left him again for a fungus demon. According to Drusilla, Spike was not evil enough for her. Spike returned to Sunnydale to find the gem that would make him invincible. Eventually Spike started dating Harmony, ex-high school snob and and one of Cordelia's followers, now vampire. Spike had a chip implanted in his head by the Government program called 'The Initiative' which means he cant hurt humans, but can fight demons. He has fallen in love with Buffy even though she despises him. During the final battle that left Buffy sacrificing her life he had sworn to protect Dawn. No-one expects Spike to become a member of the Scooby Gang but his love for the Slayer should put his bloodlust in a more acceptable direction. Especially when the Slayer comes back to life. He is now able to attack the slayer because when she was brought back to life she must have come back wrong. Spike starts a relationship with Buffy. He loves her but she is just using him. His relationship ends with Buffy when Riley returns for a short while and she gets her life on track. Also because he is trying to breed and sell demons on the black market. He attacks her and she gets so angry with him. He leaves town on his motorcycle, hell bent on a change. He heads to Africa and finds a demon who will grant his request if he passes the required tests. He fights a fire-handed demon and eventually wins. He passes several other tests and eventually the demon says that he has passed the required tests. Spike asks the demon to do what he has asked for 'so Buffy can get what she deserves'. But the demon does not remove his chip, no,........he restores Spike's soul! Spike went slightly insane due to his soul but Buffy helped him. The First (the evil of Season 7) had control of Spike using a trigger and got Spike to kill people. The Scoobies held him captive and tried to help him. The First stole Spike and held him captive but Buffy rescued him. Spike helped to train the potentials. The chip kept misfiring and Buffy chose to have it removed. Buffy told Spike she needed the dangerous Spike for the fight not the Spike he is now. Spike relived the day he was a vampire and understood why the trigger could control him and in doing so could break its hold so the trigger was deactivated. |
