The confusion over whether there will be a new slayer

When Buffy died in the season finale of season 1, Kendra, a new slayer, was called. However Buffy was then brought back to life, so Kendra was the only slayer meant to be alive.

Then Kendra died and Faith was called. So Faith became the only slayer meant to be alive. A new slayer will not be called until Faith dies.

That clears the confusion about why no new slayer was called when Buffy died in the end of Series 5.

Can slayers defy time to grow? - We now know the answer!

Original problem: Buffy grew up like any normal girl. It took her 15 years of life to grow up to be 15.

However, when Buffy dies in Series 1 then by Series 2 (1 year later) another slayer appears. She is the same age as Buffy. How can a slayer who is called, grow to the age of 16 in 1 year?

Is it possible that a slayer can be called and given all the slayer strength after she has already lived for 16 years?

I always believed that a slayer was born with the special powers and it was already her destiny because the legend says 'into each generation a slayer is born'. But Kendra was called at the end of Series 1 because a new slayer is called when the other dies. She was about 16 when she first appeared in Series 2.

This is the same for Faith. Kendra died in Series 2 and one year later a 17 year old new slayer appears. This is Faith who was called when Kendra died.

So unless slayers can grow 16/17 years old in the space of 1 year then a slayer must be able to be called when already alive for a number of years. Then, how is it destiny?

The Answer: Thanks to the potentials we now know the answer to this question. The girls grow up normally and should a new slayer be called a girl is called. So if the slayer were to die one of the potentials (already grown up) would become the Slayer.

However this is not a completely flawless answer because it is possible that the potentials will not all become Slayers and also it says 'into each generation ONE slayer is born' but there appear to be many possible Slayers.

Tara spins into beam in musical episode

During the musical episode "Once More With feeling" in Season 6, during Buffy's song in the Bronze called "Life's a show", Tara and Anya become back-up dancers for Buffy. If you focus on Tara, then at one point you can see that she turns too quickly and walks into the supporting beam. If you keep watching then Amber notices her mistake and starts smiling.
