Buffy Anne Summers was born in 1981 to Joyce and Hank Summers, living in LA.
In 1996, Merrick informed her of her destiny. He was her watcher, a keeper, of the Slayer. He showed her her power and she fought vampires until she was expelled from her school 'Hemery High' for burning down the school gymnasium which had been filled with vampires at the time.
Also her watcher Merrick had been killed.
Her parents divorced and she and her mum moved to Sunnydale , California.
In 1997 she found out from her new watcher that Sunnydale was actually on top of a mystical hellmouth, a portal to evil dimensions.
Buffy has had a tough time:
In Series 1 she was killed by the master but was brought back to life when Xander performed CPR.
She also had to deal with high school, boys and Slayer hood.
In Series 2 her lover turned evil after a moment of true happiness and then she had to kill him to save the world.
She is expelled from school and has an argument with her mother that leads to her leaving Sunnydale.
In Series 3 she returned to Sunnydale and Angel came back from the hell dimension. Later he broke up with her before the prom because the relationship was unfair to her and he loved her to much to allow that. He left her and moved to Los Angeles.
However he stays to help the gang fight the mayor's ascension and save the world again.
In Series 4 she had to fight a super demon created as part man, part demon and part machine.
In Series 5 she found out her sister wasn't real but a ball of energy made into a human, her mother died from a brain tumor, her boyfriend Riley left and she sacrificed her life to save the world.
And in Series 6, well she is kinda dead...but when the Slayerettes bring her back, she has to handle the fact that she was taken out of heaven. She is in much pain in this world because she knows that she has lost what she had.
Buffy uses Spike in their relationship but ends and puts her life on track when Riley returns briefly.
During the time when Willow turns evil she realises she must stop protecting Dawn from the world but instead show it to her.
In Series 7 she has to lead the Scoobies and the potentials against the First. She has 'moments' with Spike, gets a job as a counselor at the High School and goes on a date with the Principal/son of a slayer/vampire fighter.
