Q. Who are the Kettering Liberal Democrat Youth & Students?

A. The Kettering Liberal Democrat Youth & Students (LDYS) are the soon-to-come-into-existence branch of the Liberal Democrat Youth & Students, which is the completely autonomous youth wing of the Liberal Democrats.

Q. What do the Kettering Liberal Democrat Youth & Students do?

A. We work for a number of aims, but mainly we will fight issues that young people care about, on both a national and local basis such as the high cost of public transport, tuition fees or even for measures for better political knowledge among the largely apathetic youth.

Q. What do the Liberal Democrat Youth & Students as a whole do?

A. As a whole, we work to support any Liberal Democrat election campaigns wherever possible and to introduce new and improved policies for the Liberal Democrats as a whole. In the past, the LDYS has contributed immensly to party policy, with such items as the lowering of the age of majority (i.e. adulthood) to 16, the age at which one can begin full time work, pay income tax and die for one's country.

We have also been incremental in the Liberal Democrat campaign to abolish up-front university tuition fees, as we believe this hinders the democratic right to access to further education for all. As well as policies which directly affect LDYS members, we have also proposed policies to help create a fairer and better deal for Britain's pensioners and improved public services.
