G6VS Information

.    My first interest in radio came many years ago as a Citizens Band enthusiast. After playing around with CB, I decided it was time to move on to something bigger and better as the quality of CB was beginning to deteriorate rapidly.  I began to study for my "B" license under the instruction of Bill Sparks G8FBX.  In 1984 I passed the exam and gained the callsign G1HUT, this is where the Amateur Radio began.  After approximately nine years as a "B" class license holder I decided to move on again and go for the "A" class license.  I managed to pass the twelve words a minute Morse Test and in 1993 I gained the G0THP callsign.  After the death of a very good friend of mine, George Metcalfe on July 4th 2002, I took over his callsign G6VS.  George had held this call from 1935.  He asked me a few years before his death would I take over his callsign.  This was an Honour and a Pleasure coming from a REAL GENTLEMAN OF AMATEUR RADIO His full story to follow soon...
