Taste the difference! We source our food locally or from high
end, reputable food specialists. We get our fresh fish and
seafood from Direct Seafoods, meat and game from our local
butcher, organic meat from our
local butcher, cheese from Cambridge Cheese Company, vegetables
and fragrant herbs from our local green grocer – all these form
the basis of our imaginative, seasonally-inspired menus, cooked
expertly for you by our gourmet chefs.
Offering a choice of daily
specials our blackboards, and a new lunchtime menu, the Kingston
is full of atmosphere. Summertime eat outside in the garden,
when winter draws in sit by the blazing fires (there are 2!) and
while away a few hours.
The freshly cooked food has
acquired an excellent reputation and advanced booking is wise.
We also offer a Lunchtime Menu for those who want a quick bite!
Our Chefs
We are proud of our reputation, and that doesn't just include keeping a good
cellar. We strive to have the best chefs (Didier Lebrun, Bartek Swiacki,
'Ozzie Michael', ALL very good chefs), and we continue to look for the
best...
Robert Waight
Robert is our current head chef, and carries forward the
excellent quality we and you have come to expect from the
Kingston.
Robert has worked for 30 years in fine dining, restaurants and
has chef teaching experience. He has worked alongside Mark Hix
(of LaCaprie & The Ivy), and Gennaro Contaldo (of Passione
Restaurant).
He
has a passion for produce, meat & fish sourced locally through
the seasons and loves the symbiotic nature of the kitchen where
each person is imperative and important to 'the whole'.
Ian Whittaker
Ian
gathered accolades from the very start of his career, winning
'Student of the Year' at catering college - twice!
In
the intervening 25 years Ian has worked at a 3 AA Rosette Hotel
in St. Albans & a 4 AA Rosette Hotel in Elstree. Shortly before
working at The Kingston Ian spent 3 years at The Seatree multi
award winning fish & bar restaurant.
How
determined is Ian to help push forward The Kingson's reputation
for quality? Before his time at The Seatree Ian shattered his
ankle in an accident, and spent 3 years teaching himself to walk
again.
We
think our kitchen is in good hands.
