Welcome

In the 10 years since it was 'restored', The Kingston Arms has made quite a name in the neighbourhood - popular during the day with people who work nearby, and bustling at night with punters in for a few drinks or something to eat.

What's more, several publications have spotted us, including the Observer Food Monthly where we won 3 awards; ‘Best Cheap Eats’, ‘Best Sunday Lunch’ and ‘Best Place to Drink’ (with Cambridge Blue), in East Anglia, Feb 2004!

Customers and critics all point out how well the combination of traditional pub, award winning ales and first rate cooking works in this cosy venue where equal attention is paid to the range of beers, the wines and of course the daily changing menu.

In short, the Kingston is a great pub, with good food, fantastic ales and wines and a relaxed informal atmosphere, perfect for cosy first dates, business lunches or boozy get-togethers.

Our Ethos

We are committed to local sourcing, traceability, caring for the environment, ensuring the happiness of customers and staff and achieving the highest quality in everything we do.

To that end, all our food is either locally sourced, or we buy it from high end, reputable food specialists (Neal's Yard Diary, M & J Seafood, among others). We scour the country looking for quality ales, and we buy our whiskies, brandy's, etc from smaller, independent suppliers.

Treasure Hunt!

"Shh, I hear a treasure hunt is coming soon to The Kingston..."

Table Reservation Policy

It has come to our attention that it's a common belief that we don't let reserved tables be used.

We aren't sure how this became a common rumour, but it's just that - a rumour. And an inaccurate one at that. We in NO WAY forbid our customers to drink at reserved tables. We simply ask them to vacate the table at the reserved time,

To summarise: by all means drink at our reserved tables, and depending on the time, eat too! Just be prepared to vacate at the appropriate time.

(And what with us squeezing in even more tables for 'walk-in's', and our lovely, large covered garden, vacating a table shouldn't be a problem!).

J2O Now at the Kingston!

Recession Bustin' Ales, Wines and Menu!

We realise that the recession is well and truly here! As a result we have been feverishly working away on some recession proof options. These include a recession food menu, a range of recession beers, and recession wines.

We will always have our core Kingston options, but in addition we will offer a range of recession options!

Recession Ales

Our Recession Range of ales (including 'Recession be Damned', which has gained some attention), is £1.95-£2.30 a pint!

We also offer a range of other Recession Ales at similar prices!

Recession Wines

We offer a Recession Busting Red wine and a White wine, cheaper than our house wines!

Recession Menu

Starters - £2.99, Mains - £4.99!

·

And 2-3 'Recession Ales', all of which will be around £1.90-£2.20/pint!

To summarise: Our Recession Options will NOT replace our normal offerings, but our normal offerings will ALSO be reduced!

For a tenner, you can come to The Kingston, have a hearty meal, a few drinks, and still get change!

Live Music Every Monday Evening!

Every Monday Will and his band, The Late Risers, play 'Acoustic Country Blues, Rhythm & Roots!'.

Monthly Beer Festival - Update

Unfortunately, despite a small but very vocal and supportive minority who want us to continue the festivals throughout the cold weather, we simply cannot. We would like nothing better than to carry these on, but there simply isn't enough support during the cold weather.

But as soon as the Spring arrives, the festivals will be back! :-)

For more about our monthly beer festivals, Best of the Fest awards, etc, click here.

Sunday Roasts have Returned!

Due to us being in the colder months, we have brought back our award winning Sunday roasts!

BBQ's will return in the Spring/Summer!

Note - Walled & Covered Garden

For those who don't know The Kingston, we have a walled garden, with canopies, soft seats, blankets and heaters. And it's open all year round.

Beer Garden Blankets!

We have tried various methods of heating our garden during the colder months over the years. We have settled on an electric heater, and last year we introduced chimenea’s. You can’t beat a real fire!

This year, in addition to the above, we are introducing blankets!

Using the Kingston as a Venue!

We have held photographic and art exhibitions in the past. And we have recently held the 'Hanin Palestinian Cafe' event (Palestinian food, arts & crafts), which was very successful. This has led us to resurrecting the Kingston Arms Venue Service. If you want to use the Kingston as a venue for an exhibition, event, etc, don't hesitate to get in touch!

'Hairy John'

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of 'Hairy John' over Christmas.

He was a staunch supporter of The Kingston, and was a most regular of regulars! He used to shamble in at opening time, correct our spelling mistakes on our boards, was indecently bright, and was one of life's more honourable people. He was an eccentric - and we loved him for it.

"Say not in grief he is no more but live in thankfulness that he was" - Hebrew proverb.
