Poetry

Much of my early children's writing was written in the form of rhyming story poems. Rhyming stories can be very appealing (Julia Donaldson's "Gruffalo" being a fine example), but picture book editors are often wary of publishing them as they are usually difficult to translate for foreign language co-editions (which help to make a book profitable). Nevertheless, I still write in rhyme occasionally.

Here are a few unpublished examples:

Toy Poems

A trio of toy-related poems .

The Goblin Pedlar

A long story poem about a strange door-to-door salesman.

A Little Drilling

A macabre story poem about a very unpleasant dentist - not for the fainthearted!

The Hermit and the Tower &
The Thing that Lives Under the Bed

A couple more of my early poems with their accompanying illustrations
that can be found in my Artwork Portfolio.
