Here are some of this book's reviews

This is a super book with a good storyline, amusingly told and wonderfully illustrated.  The pigs decide to enter an air race and set about building their aeroplanes.  The BIG BAD WOLF enters the race intent on revenge for what happened to him in the original story.  Wilbur saves the day by rescuing his brothers from the dastardly wolf (he looks it in the pictures) and winning the race using the rocket booster on his plane.

What marks this book out is the adventurous use of typography - different sizes of print are used within the text for the main characters' names as well as for words one might emphasise while reading aloud.  These are boldly enlarged to varying degrees and sometimes in a slightly different font.  Each of the characters' names appears in their own particular font throughout the text - the BIG BAD WOLF fans out, each letter getting larger than the one before, suggesting it's being shouted out from a megaphone – warning!  The typography has been cleverly accomplished and works delightfully in combination with the Illustrations.  I think this is a book children will want to look at again and again.

BOOKS FOR KEEPS

Updated for today's more modern and discerning young picture book reader, this is a sequel to the classic tale of the Three Little Pigs. The Big Bad Wolf, still miffed from getting his bottom severely scalded the last time he pursued the little oinkers - here called Waldo, Woody and Wilbur - is out for revenge. He decides to intervene when the pigs enter a local 'Pie in the Sky' Air Race. His sabotage of the straw, wooden and metal planes starts well ... but he soon gets his comeuppance! Bright, breezy and fun with action on every page.

John McLay, CAROUSEL

This delectable tale bills itself as the Further Adventures of Three Little Pigs.  Waldo, Woody and Wilbur, the pigs in question, are keen to win the Pie in the Sky Air Race, and so set about building their own planes.  The Big Bad Wolf, whose real name is Algernon, is still smarting after his last encounter with the pigs, and so is determined to get his revenge.
Fantastic details within the pictures and clever word play make this a great take on the three pigs story.  The wolf disguises himself in a sheepskin flying jacket, and cries “Let me win, little Pig, let me win'' as his plane zooms through the sky in the air race.  Guaranteed to entertain.

MY BOOKS MAG

Ever wondered what happened to the three pigs after they had outwitted the wolf?  No, they didn't just live happily ever after - life's not like that. Waldo, Woody and Wilbur (the pigs) decided to enter an air race building their own planes.  Having not learnt from their previous experiences, they carried on using the materials they knew best, straw, wood and … metal (if you thought he would use bricks, you are obviously not as clever as Wilbur!) BUT the Big Bad Wolf really wanted to win the race and wasn't prepared to be beaten again. You will have to read this comical story with colourful, expressive pictures to find out what happens.  Great fun for all ages and abilities and good for sharing.

D J Williams, PRIMARY TIMES

This story tells what happens next to those three little pigs of house building fame, here named Waldo (straw builder and none too bright), Woody (slightly brighter but somewhat slapdash in approach) and Wilbur (the smart one). Then of course there's that Big Bad Wolf (still suffering from a scalded bum). In this, their second adventure, the three brothers set about building aeroplanes in an attempt to win the ‘Pie In The Sky Air Race'. Well you can guess what Waldo and Woody use for their planes but Wilbur? His plane, painstakingly designed, is built from finest metal.
The day of the race arrives, the planes line up, but who is that competitor clad in sheepskin flying jacket and hat? Read on …for some breathtaking aeronautics and a pie fest finale. Brilliant, punning fun.

Jill Bennett, WORDPOOL

We all know the story of the Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs - well the story didn't end there.  In this technology-based version, Pigs Might Fly, the three pig heroes and the wolf take part in an air race in the hope of winning a trophy and all the pies they can eat. Waldo pig builds his plane out of straw.  Woody pig builds his plane out of sticks and Wilbur pig builds his plane out of … no, not bricks!  He built it out of metal of course.  Race day arrives and the Wolf in his jet cries ‘Let me WIN, little pigs, let me WIN!'  When they refuse he replies 'Then I'll VROOM and I’ll ZOOM and I’ll SMASH your plane in!'  An original twist to a well-loved and often retold story.

CHILD EDUCATION

The Three Little Pigs meets Top Gun with an exciting twist to the traditional tale from this award-winning author.  The Big Bad Wolf comes back for more as the pigs prove just what you can do with straw, sticks and ... a rocket booster.  Young children will love this fast-paced adventure and be thrilled by the exploits of the brave trio in the 'Pie in the Sky Air Race.'

EDITION MAGAZINE

This very funny picture book extends the adventures of The Three Little Pigs by suggesting a further adventure, using the same construction materials. The story follows what happens when the triumvirate enter their respective brick, wood and straw aeroplanes in an air race organised by Big Bad Wolf. The illustrations by Steve Cox combine perfectly with the sharp and witty text  to bring out the best in the zany story. The text also contains amusing puns that relate back to the original fairy tale. A raucous and crackpot story that works beautifully for both adults and children from seven years old.
