Cruise the Caribbean a Place of  Paradise

It was special occasion , a Wedding Anniversary, and we wanted to celebrate it in a special place. We choose the Caribbean because it had a reputation for endless sunshine, magnificent tropical scenery, beautiful islands with stunning beaches and impressive marine life which included sea turtles and stingrays.

We decided to celebrate  with a cruise aboard the Sea Princess,  it sailed close to our anniversary date, it  had a superb rating, it showed  movies under the stars and provided mouth watering dinning followed by professional Cabaret shows. This cruise came highly recommended, the 15 day itinerary, seemed perfect for us to make the most of what might be our only visit to this place of paradise.

Whilst in the departure lounge at Gatwick London Airport my wife and I had a casual conversation with a person traveling on his own, he was booked on the same flight and when the flight was called we all moved into the aircraft together. You can imagine the surprise when we found that we were sitting together in a bank of of three seats.

During the 10 hour flight to fort Lauderdale we became well acquainted and firm friends, we learned that our travel companion was Ray Thompson from Newcastle on Tyne, he was a retired Senior Police Officer and he was taking  his holiday on the same cruise, Ray henceforth became our holiday companion. We dinned together, went on excursions together, sunbathed together, took in all the shows and had our evening drinks together. Ray`s company enhanced our holiday and it was sad to say goodbye to him at Gatwick Airport following our return to the UK

At Fort Lauderdale we embarked the Sea Princess and made ourselves comfortable in our stateroom which was on Caribe deck , it had a nice balcony and we made good use of it during the cruise. The cruise ship quickly got underway and all to soon we realized that we were half way through the cruise itinerary. We took excursions or visited beaches at all the islands and we were never disappointed.

Whilst at sea during the day we much enjoyed the ships facilitys, the movies were entertaining, the swim pools welcoming, the food always there, the bars were always available and above all the service was happy and friendly.

During the 1st week of the Cruise we met and became good friends with Lynn and Denis Champagne from Calgary, Canada. we spent much  time with them on the Lido deck and we met on excursions, their company together with Ray`s contributed to our super holiday. It was our pleasure one evening to join Lynn & Denis on their stateroom balcony for a champagne drink prior to dinner.

We arrived home tired but knowing that for us we had returned from the holiday of a lifetime, we loved every minute and we hope we can do similar again, maybe with luck and good arrangements, meeting up with our new friends. The pictures in the glossy brochures does the Caribbean much justice, it is a beautiful welcoming place, a place of paradise no doubt.
