I built this as an initial project on retirement both for fun and utility. After making a few preliminary sketches with the idea of starting a cutter grinder from scratch I obtained a copy of Professor Chaddocks' book* and decided that it was rather silly not to embody features from an obviously successful existing design. I spent some time imagining that I had one to use and to question whether or not its existing configuration could be improved. This was not to prove how clever I might be but my lifelong interest in engineering design had not diminished and this gave added interest beyond the challenge of actual construction. For a number of generations the eldest son (including my own) has been named James Bonelle.... As all of them have been engineers of one sort or another I thought I would call the grinder after them. I am not sure where the name came from in the first place!
