Described on his website as 'Britain’s finest professional Spirit Medium' and in his stage shows as 'the modern-day Merlin', Derek Acorah (real name Derek Johnson) is certainly the best-known British psychic, thanks to his appearances on Living TV's Most Haunted and Most Haunted Live television shows.

 

Dr Ciarán O'Keeffe exposed Acorah's fake possessions in October 2005 in a Mirror newspaper article, published to coincide with Acorah's last appearance on Most Haunted Live.  (see also Ciarán's Story below)

 

In 2006 Yvette Fielding admitted publicly that she had been taken in by Acorah, and that he was not a genuine medium.  She is quoted as saying

"We tell people everything is real, then it turns out he was a fake, so he had to go."
