The 10th Presidential Elections are being held in Iran today. The incumbent Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad main challengers are Mir-Hossein Mousavi, the reformist leader Mehdi Karoubi and Mohsen Rezaie, a former commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards.
A three path EBU mux from Tehran was made available on Eutelsat W3A (7E) in 4:2:2 chroma format as well as various SCPC feeds on 21.6E and 10E.

Israel & Gaza Borders
Now in it's eleventh day, Israeli ground forces have now crossed the border into Gaza as Israel's ground, air and naval forces continue to attack Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
CNN have been using the NSS 7 satellies Europe/Middle East beam to get feeds out of the Gaza border. Anderson Cooper has been live all week for AC360 using two paths from the border.

Israeli air strikes continue for a fourth consecutive day targeting Hamas government buildings in Gaza. One satellite feed of interest was the FOX News link from the border on 16E. While off air, a missile landed about a hundred feet narrowly missing the David and the crew!

Israel & Gaza Borders
The end of the year and tensions have increased dramatically in the Israel & Gaza region.
Israeli aircraft have started attacking Hamas targets in Gaza in response to the ongoing stream of rockets fired from Gaza into the southern part of its country. As expected, broadcasters are rushing to lease satellite transponder capacity from satellites over the Middle East for wall to wall live news coverage.

A feed often on AB1 is "Haya W Daraj" (حية ودرج) an interactive TV game show broadcast live most days for Iraqi channel Alsumaria TV. It is basically a snake and ladders board game where viewers phone in and answer general knowledge questions. A GIANT dice and prizes are also involved!

The Iraqi cabinet has approved a security deal with the US governing the future presence of 150,000 US troops in the country, officials have said. Meanwhile, the UK government, which has 4,100 troops in Iraq, is waiting for the US-Iraqi pact to be approved so they can use it as a template for their own bi-lateral deal.

BAGHDAD — The U.S. military handed over control of once brutally violent Anbar province to Iraqi forces Monday — marking a major milestone in America's plan to eventually send its troops home. BAGHDAD — U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is in Baghdad to discuss the future of American forces deployed in Iraq. Flying into Baghdad on an unannounced trip, Rice said the two sides were nearing an agreement after months of painstaking negotiations but stressed there were still unresolved issues, including when U.S. soldiers will leave and what their operations will consist of until then.

Israel released five Palestinian prisoners on Wednesday as part of a swap deal with the Lebanese Hezbollah guerrilla group that brought the bodies of two Israeli soldiers home. Last month Israel freed five Lebanese prisoners and returned the bodies of nearly 200 Arab fighters. The two Israeli soldiers were killed in a Hezbollah cross-border raid that triggered a 34-day war in 2006.

Sderot, Israel
The U.S networks have been covering the Obama tour intensively this week. Today, Obama spoke at a press conference in Sderot, Israel, near the Gaza border, after meeting with several high-ranking Israeli officials, including President Shimon Peres. The city has been a frequent target of rocket attacks from Hamas terror operatives in Gaza.
