The 45th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey began in Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul today.
On Telstar 12 there is a digital feed in MPEG-2 HD (Resolution 1920 x 1080i) 4:2:0 that should appear daily for the duration of the tour. The tour runs from April 12-17.

Powerful Earthquake Hits Central Italy

A powerful earthquake registering 5.8 on the Richter scale has rocked central Italy.
The quake struck at around 3:30AM local time in the mountainous Abruzzo region, northeast of the capital Rome.
The regional capital L'Aquila and surrounding villages were hit particularly hard. BBC Rome correspondent Duncan Kennedy was sending live reports via Atlantic Bird 1 throughout the day.

Russia Georgia Conflict: Russia Ends Georgia Operation - BBC Feed

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has ordered a halt to military operations in Georgia on Tuesday, saying Moscow had achieved its objectives by punishing Tbilisi. Before the announcement, there were fresh reports of Russian warplanes bombing the Georgian town of Gori. In Georgia's other breakaway region, Abkhazia, separatist rebels continued an offensive against Georgian troops in the Kodori Gorge region - the only area of Abkhazia still under Georgian military control.

THE HAGUE -- Former Bosnian Serb President Radovan Karadzic appeared in a war crimes court for the first time Thursday and claimed irregularities in his arrest. Radovan Karadzic has appeared in court to face charges that include genocide and war crimes. He is accused of genocide over the July 1995 massacre of 8,000 men and boys at Srebrenica and the killing of thousands of civilians during the almost four year siege of Sarajevo.

BELGRADE -- Dozens of extremists are clashing with Serbian police on the sidelines of a pro-Radovan Karadzic rally in Belgrade this evening. Karadzic was arrested last week in Serbia after 11 years on the run, most recently living under an assumed name as a bearded, long-haired alternative healer.

Terrorist Attack Outside U.S. Consulate in Istanbul

Three Turkish policemen and three gunmen were killed in an armed attack on the United States consulate in Istanbul. Four attackers drove a car up to the high-walled compound situated to the north of Istanbul city centre and overlooking the Bosphorus waterway. Three jumped out as the car halted and began firing at police who approached.
