Does not disconnect (All OS's)

After you close your browser or email client, the computer will not automatically disconnect.   This can be irritating for customers who have metered access through their ISP.

To resolve this:

98/2K/XP

  1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel
  2. Double click Internet Options
  3. Click Connections
  4. Highlight your connection, select Properties
  5. Click Advanced
  6. Select "Disconnect when connection may no longer be needed"

ME

  1. Click Start > Settings > Dialup Networking
  2. Right click your connection, select Properties
  3. Click Dialing
  4. Select "Disconnect when connection may not be needed"

You can also manually disconnect by right clicking the connection icon in the System Tray and selecting Disconnect

Mac OS 8-9

  1. Click > Remote Access Status
  2. Click Disconnect
     or alternatively:
  1. Click > Control Panel > Remote Access
  2. Click Disconnect

Debrand Internet Explorer / Outlook Express

To remove ISP branding from Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, close down all programs and perform the following:

  1. Click Start > Run
  2. Type in rundll32iedkcs32.dll,Clear
  3. Click OK

Restart the computer and the problem should be resolved.

However, if the situation remains, you can always download Unbrand.vbs, a Visual Basic script that will remove ISP branding from www.dougknox.com.
