Boot into Safe Mode (Windows All)

Windows 95

  1. Restart Computer
  2. Press F8 continually after diagnostics
  3. Choose Safe Mode from Startup Menu

Windows 98/ME

Follow instructions as above for Win 95 or:

  1. Close all running applications
  2. Click Start > Run
  3. Type msconfig and press Enter
  4. Click General > Advanced
  5. Tick "Enable Startup Menu"
  6. Click OK twice
  7. Click Yes to restart computer

This will automatically boot into Safe Mode.   If you wish to boot into Windows normally, follow the above process but untick "Enable Startup Menu"

Windows 2000

  1. Restart Computer
  2. Press F8 continually after diagnostics
  3. Choose Safe Mode from Advanced Options Menu

Windows XP

Method I
  1. Restart Computer
  2. Press F8 continually after diagnostics
  3. Choose Safe Mode from Advanced Options Menu
Method II
  1. Close all running applications
  2. Click Start > Run
  3. Type msconfig and press Enter
  4. Click Boot.ini
  5. Check /SAFEBOOT
  6. Click OK to restart computer

The computer will boot into safe mode as normal.   To revert back to booting into Normal Mode, follow the procedure in Method II but untick the /SAFEBOOT option.
