Using Ad-Aware
If you are a new user to Ad-Aware, you will be prompted to download updates immediately. This is highly recommended as you will then be protected against the latest adware/malware threats online.
To begin scanning, click on the Scan Now button on the left hand panel which will then launch a dialogue window. This will basically ask you what form of scan you wish to perform.
I prefer to choose "Choose a full system scan", ensuring that both Search for negligible risk entries and Search for low-risk threats are selected.
Click the Next button to begin scanning your local disk. This may take several minutes, depending on the volume of your drive.
After scan is complete, click onto the Critical Objects tab and select all entries in the list. Click the Next button and a confirmation dialogue window will appear, asking if you wish to proceed with the removal of selected entries - click OK.
That is basically all there is to using Ad-Aware - just remember to keep it updated with the latest definitions for optimal performance and protection.
