Tips For Getting Your Website Indexed
Without a listing in the three main search engines, your site may as well not even exist. Other than links from other sites, how will visitors find what you have to offer? In this article, we discuss the importance of Getting Indexed in the Search Engines.
First and foremost, you need your site properly optimized for the Search Engines. This includes having quality content, Meta Tags are in order, description and Keywords are highly relevant and your pages are not incomplete. A search engine will not index a useless page, especially if it has no content. So how do you get indexed?
Robots follow links, and robots index your pages. Do you get the drift? The more links pointing to your site, the more robots that will come along and check it out. You do not even have to use the submit options in the major three search engines. Links to your index page will do the job. There is no proven fact that either method is better, but I myself tend to be able to get sites indexed within 6 days by simply putting links in forum signatures, Directories and on other relevant sites. However, the submit option also works, but usually takes a longer time. There are many sites that wait months before getting indexed. These are months which could be spent doing much more productive things, other than waiting for the Search Engines.
It is important that you have your pages properly optimized BEFORE robots can see them. The old saying "first Impressions last" seems to be popular with the Search Engines, as you can find yourself waiting a long time before they decide to check on your sites progress.
So the key is to get inbound links pointing to your site. It is a great benefit to be part of many forum discussions, as signature links are followed very frequently. The more links pointing to your site, the more robots will check out your site.
