Cedric Introduction
This page, and those transcriptions linked to from it, relate to a portion of the passenger list for the ship Cedric, which sailed from Liverpool on the 5th April 1924, on a journey to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and New York. The original records are held at the PRO, under reference: BT 27/1045.
The sheets transcribed here are not a full listing of all passengers on board.
They were obtained as part of my investigation into my Grandfather's emigration to Canada, when I was trying to ascertain who he had travelled with, and whether there was any evidence to confirm a family story that he had been offered a job by a boxing bout promoter who was on the ship.
Because of this, they cover only passengers disembarking at Halifax, plus those other people for whom occupations and addresses were given. I understand from the researcher who obtained them for me, that there were many other transmigrants aboard en-route to America, but that these gave no information beyond their names and would therefore have been of no use to me for my enquiries.
If you think that your relatives travelled on this voyage, then I suggest that you use the Ellis Island site to search for them, or investigate the list yourself at the PRO. I have no further information beyond what is posted on these pages.
Passengers en-route to New York who are listed here should also appear on the Ellis Island site.
Please note that, although I have been careful in preparing these transcripts, the possibility of errors always exists. If you think that any of these passengers belong to your family then please confirm the details for yourself. No responsibility can be taken for information which later proves to be incorrect.

- (10)  Country of Intended Future Permanent Residence.*
* By Permanent Residence is to be understood residence for a year or more. Northern Ireland and the Irish Free State are to be regarded as separate Countries.
It should be noted that on the web-pages I have not included the Adult/Child/Infant tick columns. Nor have I included the 'Age Child', or 'Age Infant', columns if no child or infant appeared in that table. However, I have kept in the two adult age columns (accompanied or unaccompanied by spouse), even if no entries appear. This should help clarify the situation where people of the same name are travelling and it's unclear as to whether they are married or not.
Although country of last residence was recorded by tick marks in the columns, I have amended this to one column with the relevant text, in order to make the information easier to read.

The Sheets
As well as the separation of the passengers onto the three different styles of sheet, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd class passengers were listed on separate sheets within each style. Generally also, those disembarking at Halifax were listed on different sheets to those disembarking at New York, but two sheets contained both. The 3rd class sheets are also marked either "British Cash" or "British Ppds" (Prepaids). (This applied to the Alien 3rd class sheets, as well as to the British 3rd class sheets.)
In total there were 288 entries, which were covered on sixteen sheets. However, some of the sheets only had a small number of entries on and I have therefore grouped them over just three web-pages which I hope will make them easier to view. An index of names is also available.
