/*This is for adding style related to this page only*/
This page contains links to information concerning Parry Wills, or Will Abstracts, which have been transcribed from a variety of sources. Eventually I hope to obtain copies of some of these Wills and to add full transcripts to the site. In the meantime, however, I hope that having these indexes available will help other researchers to identify any Wills which might be of relevance to them.
If you do obtain a copy of any Parry related Wills, it would be appreciated if you could let me have a transcript, or at least details of the names/relationships of those mentioned, in order to help future researchers. Thank you.
On this page:Copies of Wills proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury (PCC) have been made available through the Public Record Office's Documents Online website. As at 6 June 2003, there were 588 Wills for people surnamed Parry, as well as others for surname variants such as Parrie, Ap Harry, Parrey etc, and some with first (or middle) names of Parry. Three listings of these are available on this site:
Please note that these details have been extracted from the DocumentsOnline website and are Crown Copyright.
Please also note that this is still the listing from 2003 and it is not, therefore, complete, either for Parrys or for the possible spelling variants.
Copies of the abstracts from the above book which have some connection to the three counties of Breconshire, Herefordshire or Monmouthshire can be found here.
Index of Wills proved in the Courts of Brecon and Llandaff for the surnames Parry, Harry and variants. The listing is taken from LDS film numbers 1788460 Items 2-4 (Brecon probate Index, 1660-1857), 1788480 Item 3 (Nansi Jones, "Archdeaconry of Brecon Probate Records. Vol. 1"), 1788460 Items 7-8 and 1788465 Items 1-2 (Llandaff Probate Index), and is printed here with the permission of the National Library of Wales.
In 2003, I was told by the NLW that they would be making their probate indexes available online during that year. Unfortunately, this did not happen.
(This will be an) Index of all transcripts of Wills, or Will Abstracts, actually included on this site. The transcripts will be linked to from the various index pages above as well, but this will provide an alternative method of finding items. (However, at the moment it only has links to some transcripts of Wills obtained for my own research.)
