The plating continues until the deposit of nickel is approximately .018 of an inch thick; the lacquer and the "growth" of nickel are then separated. This nickel is now the "master", and, because it was grown against the lacquer, which was a positive-capable of being played-it follows that this new plate is a negative. Having separated the master from the lacquer, which is now worthless, the silver is removed from the nickel. The master is now put into another electrolytic bath, and a repetition of the earlier process grows a second nickel plate against its face.
Below The lacquer is separated from the master.
