Bourne Valley Railway

This layout is to 009 gauge and part of it is loosely based on the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway in South West England. The layout essentially consists of two different layouts, each owned by a different person. There are a number of different ways it can be set up with certain sections being added or omitted to fit the space available. The total length if all sections are erected is about 30 feet.

Rolling stock is owned by four of us, a large part of the stock being based on the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway however we do have a number of items converted from Continental European prototypes.

The Greenwich and District Narrow gauge Society's automatic couplers have been fitted to many vehicles and they have worked well so far. Both Wandle and Wandle Forest now  have the magnets fitted in the track to work these couplings but other parts of the layout are to be fitted with these.

Future extensions are now being proposed but as to whether all the sections will ever be set up together will depend on a show having enough space to accommodate these. The plan is to take different sections along to any consecutive shows.

The layout has its own lighting and can be fitted into one or two cars  for transport along with operators.

Further new sections are either under construction or planned.

The original section, Bourne, may be retired soon as a new version of this station  has been built to roughly the same track plan as the terminus section. The plans above have yet tp be updated
