Garden Railways in the South East of England

The top  photos are of one garden railway in Surrey whilst the lower ones are of one in West Sussex.
Both are G gauge electric powered lines.

The Monson Light Railway was commenced in 1994 with just a few lengths of track being laid. Over the next few years it was progressively extended to give a total run of about150 feet of track with two passing loops and an engine shed. There are plans to add further loops and sidings. At present there is one station called West Side and a halt. A station is planned for the second loop some time this summer.

Track is by Peco with turnouts operated by hand at present.

An Aristo Craft Train engineer remote control unit is used to control trains with a power pack giving an output of 5Amps so that lights and sound units can be powered.

West side station building is scratch built from styrene sheet and has lasted against the elements for a number of years.

East Side station building is a Pola kit and was added this spring.
