Historical documents, treatises, biographies,
theories and debunked legends concerning the early Cruttendens and
Crittendens of England, the New World and Australasia.
The Cruttenden family name and its
derivatives have a common root in a place name in south-east England.
However, there are a number of people who
bear the name, particularly Crittenden, who are of Anglo-Saxon ethnicity
in the male line but now identify themselves with another ethnic group or
have come by the name by some other cause. I am keen to make contact with
such people to understand how the name has spread.
