What happens during a Reiki
Session?
Reiki is given by placing
hands on or slightly above, parts of the body that correspond with the major
energy centres:
Crown, Brow, Throat, Heart,
Solar Plexus, Navel and Base/Root.
The hands are left in each
position for 2 to 5 minutes. There is no massaging involved and the
practitioner will respect personal privacy. Both the recipient and the
practitioner remain fully clothed, although the recipient may be asked to
remove shoes or items of tight-fitting clothing such as a large belt.
Reiki may be given with the
recipient lying down or seated on a straight-backed chair. A full session can
last for an hour or more but, if time is limited, a shorter session can be
arranged which lasts about 30 minutes. While the effects of the shorter session
may not be as long lasting as a full session, remarkable results can be
obtained even in this short time.
The room should be conducive to relaxation, i.e. gentle lighting, soft
relaxing music, incense, etc. However,
these are not essential for Reiki and can be removed if the recipient wishes.
Distant/Remote Healings
Reiki can also be sent to the recipient regardless of distance, as there
is no time and space to limit spirit.
The healer visualizes or objectifies the recipient (in one of many ways)
before sending the energy. A time and
place will usually be agreed before hand.
