Event 1 - Quiz

Jhanifer dominated the opening round for Black Widow house, but Araltaln deserves a mention for earning points despite being the only representative of his house. Staria really got going in round two and matched Jhanifer's continued good performance, letting Viper tie the round with Black Widow. Round three saw a Black Widow win with Viper and Cobra joint second. Mention must go to Scorpion House though, who actually got a correct answer in this round, despite this not being enough for a placing. The final round saw a stunningly fast solution to the word search puzzle by Evisceraptor to win the round for Viper.

Overall, it all went very well and at the end of the event we have Black Widow leading but Viper right on their tail only a point behind.

Event 2 - Scavenger Hunt

Viper won the event with an impressively fast gathering of items. Black Widow were second. Tree Frog managed to field two competitors this time for third place. Scorpion just missed the points in fourth and Cobra struggled on valiantly and got there in the end. The only Raven House member we could see got lost somewhere and did not finish.

All houses (except Raven of course) managed full sets of items this year despite what I thought was a very hard list. See the Event 2 page for the list. This means that Viper now take the lead with Black Widow just behind.

Event 3 - Inhumation Challenge

The inumations were as follows and are listed in the order in which they occurred:

The staggered start this year didn't phase the one-man inhumation machine known as Dane, and the first two closes still went to him. It was nice that Nvader managed to help out on the scoring for Cobra though. Rumatha and Cyrus boosted the pride of Scorpion House by scoring their first points in this year's games. Who could have predicted that this would be the event to get Scorpion off the mark? I for one wouldn't have taken that bet. Nice one guys. Truly impressive.

A big thank you must go to all seven of the willing victims. It was a fun game for all and we couldn't run it without people willing to die for the amusement of others. Thank you also to all those who competed.

So, Cobra take the lead and Scorpion pull themselves up into fourth place. Dane is hotly tipped in both the remaining events and expected to score big for Cobra, but I feel that with a cunning plan or two the next event could be anybodies. We'll have to see how it pans out.

Event 4 - Capture the Flag

The event was slightly spoiled by bugs. The first attempt to get going bombed out and dumped everybody in the exit room within minutes. We then had to wait for the remaining 18 minutes to expire. Later, in round two, both Dane and Lepp suffered full losses of their normal inventory. Thankfully, Elera was able to thoroughly debug everything and round three went off without a hitch.

Despite a good turnout by Scorpion they mainly served as targets, although they did a fine job of recovering to a positive score for the final round after being down to minus twelve at one stage. Cobra ruled all three rounds with an iron fist and it wasn't just down to Dane as Nvader put in a fine performance too. Viper were short on players at first but fielded three in the final round and picked up some well deserved points. Raven House did very well, coming second in two rounds and finally getting points on the board for this year. I have to say I feel sorry for Black Widow who did really well in every round but couldn't quite make it into the top two at any point. Tree Frog had a steady performance but look at Tuscan go in the final round! I really think he was getting the hang of it and could be one to watch in future events.

It looks like Cobra have this year in the bag, but Viper or Black Widow still have a chance to win in theory. If you are really optimistic then any house could win by claiming multiple places in the last event. Viper or Black Widow look favourite for second and it'll be all down to the last event to decide that one. As for third place, in theory it could be just about any of the other houses. There's still a lot to play for.

Event 5 - Secret 'Ssassin

The positions are listed below, first place being the person who survived longest and so forth:

Ah! This was the usual bloody mayhem. If you've never competed then you can't know what it feels like. I remember my days of competing in this event as some of the most tense ever. Running it is even more stressful than competing, but it's nice to think that I've let many other people experience it.

How did it go? Well, it was night time with no moon and even the best assassin prefers a tiny bit of light to stab people by. Tricky stuff. Commiserations to Kirrby who had to leave part way through. It broke my heart to see a Scorpion leave the contest without being bested and I know it must have been very tough for you too. The mighty Cobra House dominated, being the only house to feature twice in the final placings. Tree Frog didn't get any points but they certainly fought well. There are no losers really as long as everybody had fun and they certainly seemed to.

Final Placings

Another House Games closes with the mayhem of Secret 'Ssassin and the screams of the dying still ringing in our ears. Every house scored some points this year, which is nice. It's hell for me (and my Roundworld family) to run this, so why do I do it? It increases house unity and team spirit. It gives people the chance to do things that you just can't normally do on the Disc or maybe have never tried. It brings the guild as a whole closer together. It gives us happy memories. Most of all it is just damn good fun for all who compete and I hope that everybody enjoyed it.
