Event 1 - Quiz
- Round 1 - BW:5 - TF:1
- Round 2 - TF:5 - V:1 - BW:1
- Round 3 - TF:5 - V:1
- Round 4 - TF:5
Black Widow dominated the opening round, with Jhanifer as the star of the show. In following rounds, Tree Frog began to show their form with Araltaln as the dominant player for their house.
Tree Frog won rounds 2, 3 and 4 and won the event convincingly. Black Widow did well and are second. Viper got themselves two points. Other houses have yet to score.
It is interesting to note that Tree Frog have already scored sixteen times as many points as they scored in the whole of last year's House Games.
Event 2 - Scavenger Hunt
The list of items has been added to the end of the event description/rules for reference. Results were as follows:
- 1st - Viper - 10 points
- 2nd - Scorpion - 5 points
- 3rd - Tree Frog - 1 point
- 4th - Black Widow - 0 points
- 5th - Cobra - 0 points
- 6th - Raven - 0 points
Viper got a perfect haul and arrived first. Scorpion arrived with a perfect haul just after Viper. Tree Frog came in third, again with a perfect (and dramatically presented) collection. Although all the points were awarded by this point the other houses continued to play for honour. Black Widow came in next but their Woolly Tablet had started to rot, which went against the initial announcement, so they were counted as 9.5 items correct. Cobra refused to give up and eventually arrived. They also managed just 9.5 items though as they only brought one hawk eye and not two. This means that Black Widow take 4th and Cobra take 5th place. Raven did not compete.
The participants in this event showed some incredible effort, ability and spirit. They went all out for victory despite a low turn out and I was very genuinely impressed. Thanks to all of you for making it truly memorable.
Special mention must go to Verra who sadly died during the event. Thanks also to Jeedai and Madasahatta for their efforts in resurrecting Verra and recovering his body.
Event 3 - Inhumation Challenge
The inumations were as follows (hopefully in roughly the right order):
- Sleffie inhumed Eviscerator for Viper
- Dane inhumed Pite for Cobra
- Dane inhumed Juju for Cobra
- Dane inhumed Sleeter for Cobra
- Sleffie (assisted by Staria) inhumed Sunniva for Viper
- Dane inhumed Ekko for Cobra
- Dane inhumed Sined for Cobra
Each inhumation was worth 5 points. This gives Cobra 25 points and takes them from a score of zero to being the leaders of the House Games at this point. A stunning performance by Dane there. Viper's dogged determination earns them 10 points and keeps them in the running just 3 points behind Cobra. No other houses scored in this event, although many tried.
Thanks go to all who attended, both assassins and targets. The start of the event saw such a charge of assassins through one small doorway that Atuin himself felt the vibration and hiccupped. The shockwaves that this sent through reality ensured that many people were suddenly in different places and no longer grouped. Thanks to everyone for not letting this spoil things.
Special thanks go to Sunniva who really got the raw end of the deal with the hiccup but bravely fought back and ended up putting in an impressive performance as a target.
Event 4 - Hide and Seek
The winners of the event were:
- Student - Bethany - Earns 15 points for Black Widow
- Graduate - Nayeli - Earns 10 points for Tree Frog
It was a fast paced and confusing scramble of an event, but out of the chaos we all managed to agree on these two as winners. The Student category was hard fought this year and special mention must go to Nokomis and Muppet who both only just missed out on winning the student category.
Nayeli's covert expertise has put Tree Frog back into the lead after this event, while Bethany has pulled Black Widow right back up into the leading pack. Black Widow haven't looked this promising since round 1 of the quiz!
As we head into the bloody massacre of a finale that is known as Secret 'Ssassin (ready the hoses!) it is still possible for any of the teams to win the games. In the case of Raven, they would have to have members finish in first and second places (and preferably third too to make it safe) but it is technically possible.
Let's hope for a hard fought, fair and extremely violent final event. Those about to die, I salute you.
Event 5 - Secret 'Ssassin
The final game had the usual carnage and mayhem that we have come to expect from this grim finale. The positions were as follows:
- 1st - Dane - Cobra - 20 points
- 2nd - Sciante - Scorpion - 10 points
- 3rd - Sleffie - Viper - 5 points
Due to Dane's rate of kills it wasn't long before he ended up holding the name of a housemate. Eventually I allowed swapping of papers within houses to keep things moving but soon we had to resort to a redraw for the remaining six contestants.
Honorary mention must go to the other three competitors who made it into the final but did not place in the top three. Kara of Black Widow was fourth, Parsnip of Cobra was fifth and Meatwad of Cobra was sixth.
Although it is a nightmare to organise I still love this game. Hopefully everyone enjoyed it as much as I did back when I competed myself. This brings the games to a close and we can all catch up on some well earned rest and then start training for next time.
Final Placings
- 1st - Cobra - 45 contest points - Earning 15 house points
- Joint 2nd - Tree Frog - 27 contest points - Earning 10 house points
- Joint 2nd - Viper - 27 contest points - Earning 10 house points
- 4th - Black Widow - Earning 5 house points
- 5th - Scorpion - 15 contest points
- 6th - Raven - Did not score
Thanks to everyone for taking part and making the games fun for us all. There was a great spirit and a sense of fair play. May they continue for many a year, long after I have a nervous breakdown and pass the baton along at some point. ;o)
