Combat Aliases
1h
Definition - alias 1h options combat tactics attack = left
Notes - Sometimes you carry two weapons, sometimes one. The name stands for one-handed and this alias can be used when you swap to only wanting to attack with one hand. Change "left" to read "right" if your character is right handed. Without using this you can find yourself attacking with your empty (or shield) hand in addition to your weapon hand. Not good.
2h
Definition - alias 2h options combat tactics attack = both
Notes - The counterpart of 1h. Use this when you go from holding one weapon to holding one in each hand. If you forget to modify your tactics in this way then your second weapon is just for show!
bs
Definition - alias bs backstab $*$
Alternative Definition - alias fi;backstab $*$;fw
Notes - Backstab is an assassin and thief command. The basic definition above lets you type (for example) "bs bear" instead of "backstab bear" to perform a stealthy attack on an innocent bear. The alternative version calls on two other aliases. It will set your fighting attitude to "insane" just as you go into the backstab, then perform the attack, then set your attitude to wimpy. This gives a violent opening followed by an extremely defensive posture while you consider your next move. Personally I had very little luck with this alternative and abandoned it. No matter what attitudes I used I always seemed to get a big reprisal from my opponent after the backstab. Experiment if you wish.
fd
Definition - alias fd options combat tactics attitude = defensive
Notes - Stands for "fight defensively". This will modify your combat tactics to a defensive style. It remains in effect until you swap to another style. Even after the combat is over this will remain as your preferred tactic until changed. It will slightly increase your defensive ability at the expense of your offensive ability.
fi
Definition - alias fi options combat tactics attitude = insane
Notes - Stands for "fight insanely". This will modify your combat tactics to an insane style. It remains in effect until you swap to another style. Even after the combat is over this will remain as your preferred tactic until changed. It will greatly increase your offensive ability at the expense of your defensive ability. A handy tactic when you want to make combat swift and decisive.
fn
Definition - alias fn options combat tactics attitude = neutral
Notes - Stands for "fight neutrally". This will modify your combat tactics to a neutral style. It remains in effect until you swap to another style. Even after the combat is over this will remain as your preferred tactic until changed. It will set your combat style back to its default (evenly balanced) settings.
fo
Definition - alias fo options combat tactics attitude = offensive
Notes - Stands for "fight offensively". This will modify your combat tactics to an offensive style. It remains in effect until you swap to another style. Even after the combat is over this will remain as your preferred tactic until changed. It will slightly increase your offensive ability at the expense of your defensive ability.
fon
Definition - alias fon options combat tactics focus = neck
Notes - Ever fought a troll? Did your weapon get blunted? A trolls skin is very hard and is best tackled with blunt weapons. Edged or pointed weaponry will quickly deteriorate unless you focus on their soft spot, which is the neck. This alias modifies your combat tactics to focus on the neck. Note that aiming all your attacks at such a small area will reduce your chance of hitting, so don't leave this set all the time.
fox
Definition - alias fox options combat tactics focus = none
Notes - OK, so you've just killed a troll. As mentioned above, the tactic of aiming all blows at the neck is not a good one in any other situation except for fighting trolls. The fox alias (stands for "focus on nothing in particular") will remove your fascination with necks and get you back to fighting normally.
fw
Definition - alias fw options combat tactics attitude = wimp
Notes - Stands for "fight like a wimp". This will modify your combat tactics to a wimpy style. It remains in effect until you swap to another style. Even after the combat is over this will remain as your preferred tactic until changed. It will greatly increase your defensive ability at the expense of your offensive ability. A handy tactic to use when you are not in combat but you are expecting a surprise attack.
