Jumble Sale

The 223 Parents committee holds it Annual Jumble Sale on the second Saturday in June of each year. The Jumble Sale is the last event in the 223 calendar and officially marks the end of the session. This is because after it there are no more meetings of and of the sections of the 223 until the new session begins in September.

The format of the jumble sale week is that the jumble is collected on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights by a large team of Parents, Staff and Boys with cars, and large and small vans. The parents & staff with cars take a couple of boys each and go round door to door on the street the have been assigned to collect from. Those with vans go with one of the older boys to answer specific phone request to collect larger items. All the jumble is bought back to the church halls sorted out and put onto the different stalls e.g.. Books, clothes, crockery, furniture, sports equipment, toys & games etc. before the jumble sale takes place between 10am and 12 noon on the Saturday morning. The Saturday afternoon is then spent disposing of most of the unsold jumble, some of the books might be kept and stored up for the book sale for example.

This years jumble sale took place on Saturday 10th June with jumble being collected between the Tuesday 6th and Friday 9th of June. This years jumble sale raised over £2500.

The money that the jumble sale raises makes up a large proportion of the funds required for running the different sections of the 223 during the next session. The proportion jumble sale money is also put into the parents committee’s minibus fund. The minibus fund has allowed us to purchase our current minibus and will allow us to purchase a new bus when it is required.
