EX-MEMBERS
The 223 Boys Brigade Company Ex-Members association was formed
in 1996 and was the brain child of our late Past Captain Alister
McCorquodale.
A record has always been maintained of the last known
addresses of all ex-members of the 223. As a result of this it
had always been Alister's idea to form a self running association
to enable the ex-members of the company to keep in touch with the
223 and the friends they had made during their time in the
company.
Ironically it would take the sad passing of a much, loved
officer of the company section Lt Peter MacFarlane
to prompt Alister in to turning his idea into a reality.
Overwhelmed by the large number of ex-members of the 223 -
spanning all the generations of Peters involvement with the
company - who turned out at his funeral to pay their last
respects Alister realised the bond which was still there between
the ex members and the company and decided the time was right to
bring his idea to fruition.
As a result of this the Ex-Members Association was started and
the following letter was sent out to all the ex-members of the
223.
Letter to be inserted
- To date the association has 170 members. This number
includes people who now live in places as far a field as
Australia, America, the Far East and all corners of the U.K.
It also include at least to of the companies founder
members.
- Each year the association holds its annual AGM and dinner
to which all members of the association are respectfully
invited.
- Session 1998/1999 was slightly different because it saw
the company celebrating its 75th Anniversary
and to mark these celebrations the association held a
special anniversary dinner which was attended by more
than 100 of the companys ex-members for more
information on this event click the link below. The ex-members
also paraded at the last church parade of the session and
at the company sections annual inspection. The final
event held to mark these celebrations was a football
match between the ex-members and the current members of
the company section which was refereed by former S.F.A
referee Kenny Hope, whose own son is an ex-member of the
223 for more information click on the link below
