Background Information
The Bugle is the 223rd Glasgow B.B. Companys official magazine. It was first issued to all boys and staff within all sections of the 223 in September 1988 and has been issued to them four times a session in September, November, February, and May. The bugle has also been issued to all members of our ex-members association since it began in 1997.
The Bugle provides up to date information on what has been happening within the 223 since the previous edition of the magazine as well as a preview of what will be happening in the coming months. Along side this it also contains articles from different ex-members of the 223, on the recollections of the time in the company.
The first edition of the bugle did not have the front cover, which you saw on the previous page. It had a competition in it to design a cover for the magazine. This competition was open to all the boys in the company at that time and the wining entry came from Pte David Riddick, whose clever design incorporating the BB Anchor and the four habits outlined in its object has been the front cover of the Bugle ever since. The only exception to this was during session 1998/1999 when the cover was changed slightly to acknowledge the fact that it was the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the company.
It is not my intention to post a copy of the Bugle on this web site because I intend to post a lot of the information held in the Bugle within the different sections of this web site. I will however post any of these special articles from the Bugle in this area of the website.
