A New Year ~ A New Beginning
During worship at our little local church last Sunday morning one of our number prayed that we put aside the past and look to a forgiven future with Jesus. This theme was very much part of our evening worship when we gathered in the parish church for Holy Communion.
A 'confession' prayer, and a hymn, especially moved me and I felt that I should share them with you all, that in whatever path we go forward into this new year, we may know a unity in the sacrificial love and forgiveness of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I trust these lovely words will speak to you as they spoke to me.

"Eternal God, Creator, Son and Spirit; at the start of this new year, with Your help, we would let go of the past. We would lay down our failures, guilt and shame, and lift up our eyes, and look to the future - Amen"
Forgive our sins
'Forgive our sins as we forgive',
You taught us, Lord, to pray;
but You alone can grant us grace
to live the words we say.
How can Your pardon reach and bless
the unforgiving heart
that broods on wrongs, and will not let
old bitterness depart?
In blazing light Your cross reveals
the truth we dimly knew;
what trivial debts are owed to us,
how great our debt to You!
Lord, cleanse the depths within our souls
and bid resentment cease;
then, bound to all in bonds of love,
our lives will spread Your peace.
