Pidgeons of Stretford, Manchester

The family legend tells of a Charles PIDGEON who was a court hairdresser and wigmaker.

What we know, however, is that William Henry PIDGEON was a hairdresser, born in London.  In 1851 he was living at Deansgate,  Manchester, where he may have met Mary Ann GRAY.  Perhaps they married in Scotland (their marriage cannot be found in England), as it was in Edinburgh where the first of their sons were born.  Sometime between 1860 and 1866 the family moved back to Manchester, perhaps because William Henry died.

Additional contributions are from Andrew PIDGEON of Wimbledon and Eileen PIDGEON of Slingsby, Yorkshire.
