Pidgeons of Stockport, Cheshire

Henry PIDGEON, the third son of John PIDGEON and Joan BOWER of Cullompton [see 1857 Agreement] travelled north to Cheshire and settled in Stockport where he married a widow, Ann BASKETFIELD (or BASKERVYLE? - see 1764 Agreement).

The majority of Henry’s descendants continued to live in the Stockport area (including Hazel Grove) until about the mid 20th century.   Notable exceptions were (1) the family of his grandson Henry (son of William) which migrated first to Macclesfield in the 1870s and then to Burnley in the 1880s, (2) a great-great-grandson Frank Holt PIDGEON who was reported to have emigrated to Australia but died in Nigeria and (3) a great-great-grandson William Owen PIDGEON (Joe’s father) who first moved to Kidderminster and then settled in Hertfordshire.

Additional contributors:  Harry PIDGEON (and family), Joe PIDGEON
