Pidgeons of Great Yarmouth  (3)

This branch starts with the marriage of William Pidgeon and Ann Webster in 1778.  Ann bore William ten children (the youngest being twins) before she died only 43 years old.  William then married a widow Elizabeth Davy who bore him another three children, including twin sons.  But both William and Elizabeth died while these children were still young, and they were by different relatives.  We don't know if the twin bothers were kept together, but it's thought that Joseph was brought up in London, whence he returned to Great Yarmouth to marry Elizabeth Cook Sheppard in 1823

Joseph James Pidgeon and Elizabeth Cook Sheppard and the bulk of their family remained in Great Yarmouth, and it wasn’t until the late 19th century before some of them moved away.  Their sixth child Samuel Sheppard Pidgeon moved to London about 1870 and was followed by some of his younger siblings.
