Pidgeons of Shropshire

Pidgeons of Shropshire (1)
This family tree has been researched in detail and has known living descendants.  It initially involved two Pidgeon families from the villages of Stanton and Shawbury.  In 1736, Henrietta Pidgeon from Stanton married William Pidgeon from Shawbury.  Very little is known about the Stanton family, but the Shawbury family descends to Pidgeons now living in the Midlands, Bristol, Yorkshire and New Zealand

Pidgeons of Shropshire (2)
This family left Shiffnal, Shropshire and migrated to London, Northampton and Australia.

Pidgeons have lived in Shropshire for several centuries.   The parish records have references to Pidgeons even earlier than the 1580s when William Pidgeon married Jane Heathe at Shrewsbury and Thomas Pydggine married Blanche Jones at Wem.   Three of the family trees which are presented here are derived solely from the parish registers, from which a number of family groups can be identified.   It should be born in mind that considerable errors may have been introduced in relating individuals to each other.   These family groups appear in the three main locations of Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Wem.   People who do not obviously belong to to any of them are listed separately in the parish registers.
