Pidgeons of Stockport
These are my ancestors. Henry Pidgeon came to Stockport from
Cullompton, Devon, probably sometime in the 1780s. He married in
Stockport in 1792.
New evidence
suggests Henry may have married one of the Cheshire Baskervilles.
Stockport Irish Pidgeons
Robert T Pidgeon was born in Ireland. He married Elizabeth Froggatt from
Uttoxeter, Staffs and they settled in Stockport about 1880.
Pidgeons of Birkenhead
James Pidgeon came from King's County, Ireland with his
wife Ellen and daughter Julia Maria. They settled in Liverpool, but Ellen
died in 1854. After remarrying, James and his family moved south across
the Mersey to settle in Birkenhead, Cheshire.
Pidgeons of Liverpool
This family were living in Liverpool by the 1890s, and most descendants
are still there.
Pidgeons of Stretford, Manchester
A family legend tells of Charles Pidgeon being a court hairdresser and
wigmaker. What is known is that William Henry Pidgeon, who was born
in London and a hairdresser, first travelled to Manchester and then to Edinburgh, Scotland
where he started to raise a family. Probably after his death, his family
returned to Manchester in the
early 1860s and settled in Stretford.
Pidgeons of Chorlton, Manchester
