There
were Pidgeons in Ireland in the 18th century. We know where they
went, but where did they come from?
The Pidgeons of Kilkenny lived near
Tullaherin. Two brothers emigrated to the USA in the 1850s and
settled in Memphis, Tennessee,
Nathaniel Pidgeon was born in nearby County Wexford. But his
"father, Richard Pidgeon, removed there with his brother Henry, from
the County of Wicklow, a short time previous to the rebellion of 1798."
Nathaniel emigrated to Australia in the early 19th century. The
above link is to his story on Peter Pidgeon's
Pidgeon Coop.
William Pidgeon was born in County
Clare about 1847, married Eliza Jane in County Kildare, from where they
emigrated to Exmouth, Devon with their young family.
Robert T Pidgeon was born
somewhere in Ireland about 1854 and settled in Stockport, Cheshire. |
