PIDGEONS & PIGEONS of Bristol & Somerset


There were once three Pidgeon or Pigeon of Bristol family trees.  Since then, the number (1) tree has been attached to the Pidgeons of Kenton tree, the number (2) tree is now the Pidgeons of Ilchester, and the number (3) tree in now the only Pigeons of Bristol tree.

Pigeons  of Bristol
Walter Pigeon was a solicitor, born in Clifton in 1805.  His sons and grandsons were solicitors, surgeons and medical practitioners.  Many descendants today live in Essex. and Norwich.

Pidgeons of Ilchester
William Pidgeon and Ann Grinham were married at Ilchester, Somerset in 1808.  They had two sons.  One, Nathaniel, a plasterer went to London and his family eventually settled at Plumstead.  A grandson of Nathaniel emigrated to Australia in 1923.

The other son, Joseph, a mason, went to Bristol and settled by the quarry in Clifton.  His grandsons operated the motor garage of H N Pidgeon & Sons in Stoke Bishop.
