PIDGEONS of Powderham & Kenton, Devon
|
Jasper Pidgeon may be the son of William and Susannah Pidgeon of Stockland, baptised on 13th December 1747. But when he died in 1811, his age was thought to be only 61 years, so it is not certain that was their son. Jasper and Elizabeth Bowcher were married in Kenton, but settled in Powderham. One of their great grandsons changed the family name to Pidgen and moved to Grimsby, Lincolnshire (see the Pidgens of Grimsby). Others descendants migrated to Northumberland, Wiltshire, London or emigrated to Tasmania and the USA, but the majority remained in Devon. Joseph Pidgeon was also married in Kenton, in 1780, the year after Jasper (see the Pidgeons of Kenton). Were Jasper and Joseph brothers? Additional contributions from Teresa_Dicks, Dianne Berry and Many_Ingram. Notes: ab. = about, b. = born, bp. = baptised, bu. = buried, d. = died, m. = married, (+) = extramarital relationship.
