This family of wandering Pidgeons appears at Croydon, Surrey in the 1841 and 1851 censuses.  Thomas Pidgeon was apparently born at Peterborough, Northamptonshire and his wife Ann at Sturminster Newton in Dorset.  We do not know where they married, but their son John was baptised at Chatham, Kent in 1820 and son Thomas at Croydon in 1824.

When John was married in London in 1854 he was a widower.  Was this true?  No other marriage can be found.  He settled in Marylebone and his family remained in London until his granddaughter Daisy Alice Pidgeon and her husband Richard Jones emigrated to Australia in 1927 with five children.  Another five children were born in Australia.
